Abstract

In 2020, Iranian filmmaker Firouzeh Khosrovani directed Radiographie d’une famille (“Radiography of a Family”). Navigating subtly between documentary and fiction, interweaving still and moving images of varying status and scope, the film is built on an intimate narrative, the story of the filmmaker’s parents, from the time they met in the 1960s, over the course of a summer, right up to the moment of shooting. This radiography of a family is also the radiography of a nation, characterized by its divisions, contradictions and intersecting struggles. This article begins by examining the different enunciative strata that make up the film, while considering their distinctive functions in the development of the story. It then looks at the discursive strata that emerge, to highlight the multiplicity of entries, glances and points of view that can be mobilized to interpret the filmmaker’s reading of the fractures specific to her country.

Résumé

En 2020, la cinéaste iranienne Firouzeh Khosrovani réalise Radiographie d’une famille (Radiograph of a Family). Navigant subtilement entre le documentaire et la fiction, entremêlant des images, fixes et animées, aux statuts et à la portée variables, le film se construit sur la base d’un récit intime, celui des parents de la cinéaste, depuis leur rencontre dans les années 1960, le temps d’un été, jusqu’au moment du tournage. Cette radiographie d’une famille est aussi la radiographie d’une nation, caractérisée par ses divisions, ses contradictions, ses combats croisés. Cet article interroge tout d’abord les différentes strates énonciatives qui composent le film, tout en pensant leurs fonctions distinctes dans le développement de la narration. Il se penche ensuite sur les strates discursives qui en découlent, afin de mettre en évidence la multiplicité des entrées, des regards, des points de vue, qui peuvent être mobilisés pour interpréter la lecture que nous propose la cinéaste des fractures propres à son pays.
